Alex Needham – Conductor of RAYJO and RAYWB and Director of RASO trained as a trombonist and pianist at Colchester Institute of Higher Education where he majored in performance, ensemble leadership and composition. He began teaching soon after his studies and has worked for many music services up and down the country. Following a brief hiatus when he worked as a trombonist for P&O, he gained his PGCE in secondary music and joined Hampshire Music Service soon after.

Angela Williams – Assistant Conductor of RAYWB trained originally as an oboist at the Royal Academy of Music and played professionally afterwards. After having two children she picked up the other woodwind instruments and was a peripatetic teacher for Gwent and Wiltshire Music Services. Having grown up in Chandler’s Ford she is now enjoying being part of HMS and helping with RASO, EASO and WASO.

Andy Veale joined the RASO team in September 2024. He is Head Of Music at The Romsey Academy and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. He qualified with a degree in jazz at the Leeds. A multi-instrumentalist, Andy is an incredible trumpet player and keyboard player and is highly in demand as a sound engineer. We’re thrilled to have him in the team.
